Puerto Marina Benalmádena: the white maze of docks, 28 minutes on foot

Puerto Marina is the marina of Benalmádena Costa, 1.9 km from Benal Beach Apartments — roughly 28 minutes along the promenade.

What it is Built in the 1980s as a cluster of white islands, bridges and canals, it has won awards for its design and looks like nothing else on this coast. Around 1,000 berths, dozens of bars and restaurants on the water, and Sea Life Benalmádena at the entrance. Boat trips and dolphin-watching excursions leave from the quays through the season.

Getting there from the apartment Follow the promenade west with the sea on your left; it is flat the whole way and the marina appears after Malapesquera beach. Buses along Avenida Antonio Machado also stop here.

Good to know - Free to walk around at any hour; you only pay for what you eat, drink or board. - Busiest between 21:00 and midnight in summer, go earlier if you want a quiet table. - Dolphin-watching boats usually need booking a day ahead in July and August.

Best time to go Evening. The white architecture and the boats look their best with the lights on, and the terraces fill up after 21:00.
