Parque de la Paloma: the free park where kids can run, 27 minutes away
A large free park with a lake, roaming animals and playgrounds, 1.8 km along the promenade from the apartment.

Parque de la Paloma is the big free public park of Benalmádena Costa, 1.8 km from Benal Beach Apartments, about 27 minutes on foot, or a short bus ride.
What it is Around 200,000 square metres of lawns, palms and cactus gardens built around a lake. Chickens, rabbits, peacocks and geese wander loose along the paths, there are pens with goats and a few larger birds, and several playgrounds are spread through the grounds. It is the standard local answer to a morning with children who need to burn energy.
Getting there from the apartment Walk the promenade towards Puerto Marina and turn inland at Avenida de la Estación, or take the bus from the stop 200 m from the door. Entry is free and the park has several gates.
Good to know - Free to enter, open daily; take water, since shade is patchy in the middle of the day. - Cafés inside the park, plus toilets and picnic tables. - Buggy-friendly paths, though a few slopes are steeper than they look.
Best time to go Early morning or late afternoon. In July and August the middle of the day is too hot for a park visit with small children.
