Benalmádena Pueblo: the white village above the coast, 10 minutes up

Benalmádena Pueblo is the original white village above the coast, about 6 km from Benal Beach Apartments roughly a 10 minute drive uphill.

What it is This is where the town began, long before the beach hotels: whitewashed houses, narrow lanes, tiled squares and viewpoints that look straight down over the bay. The Plaza de España and the Muro area are the obvious stops, along with the small Precolumbian art museum. The bars here are noticeably cheaper than the promenade, and the crowd is more local.

Getting there from the apartment Ten minutes by car up the hill, or by bus from the stop 200 m from the door. Park in one of the car parks at the edge of the village the lanes inside are too narrow to drive.

Good to know - Steep and cobbled in places; comfortable shoes matter more than you would think. - The Stupa, Colomares and the Butterfly Park are all within a few minutes, so make one trip of it. - Most restaurants close in the afternoon and reopen around 20:00.

Best time to go Late afternoon and evening. The village comes alive when the heat drops, and the viewpoints are at their best as the coast lights up.
