Benalmádena Cable Car: 769 metres up Mount Calamorro in 15 minutes

The Benalmádena cable car, or Teleférico, carries you 769 metres up Mount Calamorro in about 15 minutes. The base station is 2.8 km from Benal Beach Apartments, a four minute drive.

What it is Gondolas leave continuously from the lower station near Tivoli and climb over pine forest to the summit. At the top there are marked walking trails of different lengths, a viewpoint terrace, a bar, and birds of prey demonstrations during the season. On a clear day the view runs from Málaga bay to Gibraltar and, occasionally, the Moroccan coast.

Getting there from the apartment A four minute drive or a short bus ride from the stop 200 m from the door; the base station is beside the Tivoli roundabout in Arroyo de la Miel. There is parking at the lower station.

Good to know - Take a layer, the summit is several degrees cooler and windier than the beach. - Proper shoes if you plan to walk the trails; the paths are rocky rather than paved. - Last descent is early evening, so check the closing time before you set off up.

Best time to go A clear morning, for the view, or late afternoon in high summer, when the heat drops. Windy days can suspend the service.
